About Founder

Julieann T. Randall was born in Kingston, Jamaica, raised in the Bronx, New York. She obtained her degree through CUNY, City College and now resides in New Jersey.

As a passionate literacy advocate and youth empowerment speaker, Julieann created Finding the JEMS

(Joint Educational Movement Soldiers) to shine a light on literacy and make reading a priority. Forming an army of relentless soldiers focused on higher education to support literacy development, Julieann sees it as her duty to introduce underprivileged children to their right to literacy by exposing them to books and educational programs they are normally not awarded. Through her organization, she orchestrated multiple book-drives. These books reached the hands of children in NewYork, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, and Jamaica.

Julieann, also known as Jules often refers to children as gems, reminding them how precious and valuable they are. She plans to reach many more children from the U.S. and other parts of the world through future book drives, her young readers' book, speaking engagements, and her programs (Beyond the Bridge Transition Program, Polished Diamond, and Reading Challenger).

Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why”. Julieann believes being an advocate for literacy is her divine assignment and suggests, we are all superheroes and possess our own "super-powers". These powers are our skills, talents, and strengths. Jules has discovered many of her powers already and is still uncovering more while she adjusts her cape.

Although she plays with numbers daily in the financial world, she manages to calculate words beautifully as well. Her young readers' book, Jade's Journey: The Newness, is available on her website. She is also currently writing book two of the series due to release in 2019. She welcomes you to come along for the journey.

Jules' Book Club

YES, what an amazing book!

At times, I lock myself in a time period - dressing in fabrics, speaking slang, and adjusting to new norms. Relating to the characters by laughing hysterically, crying uncontrollably, and feeling furious. I speak to them as if they can hear me and silently asking myself, “what would I have done?” I often make notes for myself similar to a therapy session. This is what happens when I find myself completely lost in an amazing piece of art. The compass is provided by the author in the pages, to your personal true North. At the end of the journey, putting a book back on the shelf, I keep gems in my palm – growth, and lessons for my own story.  One that I have complete narrative over.

The purpose of Jules’ Book Club is to congregate with like minds. After reading a good book I have a yearning to discuss my thoughts and emotions. At that point, I’m very open to being enlightened by someone else’s perspective and their takeaways. I’m sure our sessions and conversations will find things in each other that could possibly bond us, as tight as a weaving pattern.

The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.
